Samer couldn’t hide his grin while gliding to the rhythms on his wheelchair using his both hands so confidently.

For the first time in Syria, people in wheelchairs, led by Italian dancing instructor Guisepe Masciello learned how to ballroom dance with people on their feet. Wheelchair dancing is a Paralympic sport for people in wheelchairs and people without disability alike with the aim of having them interact with one another and improve the physical and psychological state of disabled Syrians.

The workshop is part of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) disability integration programme that seeks to promote the inclusion of people with disabilities (PWDs).
