Innovation

New ways of doing development, driven by citizens, are emerging.  From social impact investors to new government units focusing on behavioural change, new players are pioneering methods that turn traditional approaches on their head.

At UNDP, our goal is to capture these methods and help our partners roll out solutions to key issues such as exclusion, migration, sustainable management of natural resources, and extremism.

We consider innovation a process of continued learning. In our rapidly changing world, learning helps us improve development outcomes and accelerate progress on the Sustainable Development Goals.

In order to achieve our objective, we work with our partners to:

  • Identify cutting-edge development thinking: we support our partners to continuously evaluate and update their policy and programme portfolios, helping them mobilize more resources and partners;
  • Develop and apply new ways of engaging with partners: we help link our partners with the “best in class” globally;
  • Identify evidence to better inform decisions: we support our clients so they can build evidence, obtain insights from citizens and craft cutting edge policy and programmes.
