Once the NDCs have been presented, countries face the challenge of bringing them to fruition by coordinating efforts with the public and private sectors. The overarching question is thus: How can we translate NDC goals into concrete projects, programs and policies? One of the region's major emissions sectors, the energy sector, is currently experimenting with new opportunities to pave the way for implementation.
On August 29, a group of countries that have completed the Climate Public Expenditures and Institutional Review (CPEIR) processes in Latin America will meet on the margins of the Latin American NDC Dialogues to analyze how the CPEIR tool may contribute to the implementation and monitoring of the NDCs; help establish the required institutional framework and more even more importantly, determine how the national budget will support NDC implementation plans.
The global NDC Conference in Berlin for 2017 was jointly organized by the GIZ Support Project for the Implementation of the Paris Agreement (SPA), the UNDP Low Emission Capacity Building (LECB) Programme (on behalf of the “IKI NDC Support Cluster”), and the Low Emission Development Strategies Global Partnership (LEDS GP) in collaboration with the NDC Partnership.
